TIGLFF Cancels Bingo4Charity Event Due to Impending Hurricane Irma

On Wednesday morning, the TampaBay International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival (TIGLFF) announced the cancellation of their scheduled Bingo4Charity event at Punky’s Bar & Grill, due to impending hurricane Irma.

The event was originally planned as a kick off fundraiser, leading up to the 28th annual film festival, scheduled for October 6-14th.

Organizers encouraged event attendees to “stay safe” and use the event time to prepare for the hurricane.

Bingo host, Robert Shaffer (AKA Pinky Penmark) posted the following message on his Facebook timeline earlier this morning:

“Because this storm is imminent and fast approaching, the TIGLFF staff and board, as well as myself, agree that it is in the best interest of everyone to cancel tonight’s #Bingo4Charity at Punky’s. We do not want staff, volunteers and attendees to feel obligated to attend the event and inadvertently fall behind in Irma preparations and evacuation plans. A special night of Bingo benefiting TIGLFF will be added in the near future.”
