Voting is open to nominate the Grand Marshal for the 2017 St. Pete Pride Parade, reports the St. Pete Pride website. Tampa Bay’s LGBTQ+ Pride Celebration elects one major contributor to the LGBTQ+ community as Grand Marshal each year.
The first nominee is Rev. Dr. Candace R. Shultis, the pastor at King of Peace MCC in St. Petersburg, where she works to increase the church’s inclusivity and holds LGBTQ+ events.
Ed Lally has lived in Tampa since 1979 and has been an LGBTQ+ activist there for 37 years. He has raised over $2,000,000 for LGBTQ+ causes.
Milly Taylor is Director of St. Petersburg Free Clinic – Beacon House. There she works to end homelessness and support those in need.
Kori Stevens has been a professional Female Impersonator for 22 years and has fundraised for many charitable events. She is also the Entertainment Director for St. Pete Pride.
Michael Smith is a current member of the Largo City Commission and a supporter of several LGBTQ+ organizations. He will be awarded the Voice for Equality Award at Equality Florida’s St. Pete Gala.
Grant Drain is the Director of Communications for Florida Transgender Alliance and a member of TransAction Florida’s advisory board.
Project No Labels is an LGBTQ+ volunteering and activism organization in the Tampa Bay Area.
The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay works to help those facing serious life challenges.
The ACLU Pinellas Chapter works to defend civil liberties through advocacy and community events.
