St Pete Pride Elects New Leadership

St Pete Pride

President, Vice President, Secretary Transition; Treasurer Re-Elected

St. Petersburg, FL, November 19th – St Pete Pride voted in new leadership, including three newly-elected officers from various backgrounds.
Chrys Bundy-Brennan succeeds Scion Crowder after her four-year term as President.

“Chrys will be instrumental in continuing the advancement of the organization, all while ensuring our community is represented. He is a natural leader with a large heart and a sensible outlook,” says Scion Crowder, who oversaw Pride’s largest growth period.

Chrys has answered several questions about his background and vision for Pride:

What is your background in LGBTQ+ Advocacy?

“I’ve only lived in Florida for a little over four years. Previously, I lived with my husband Robert in Washington, DC, for over a decade. First as volunteers and eventually on the planning committee, Robert and I worked with AIDS Walk Washington for many years.

After moving to Florida, I happened to land a job with what is probably the most progressive large company in the area: Tech Data. Although we had groups for women and veterans, no one had ever started an employee group for members of the of LGBTQ+ community. I’m proud of what we have accomplished in just over two years. In 2018, Tech Data was a proud sponsor of the TransPride March. We also had the largest parade contingent EVER in the St. Pete Pride Parade.”

What would you like to help St Pete Pride accomplish during your term?

“I want St Pete Pride to be just as known for their Community Grants Program as we are for our Parade and Festival. Giving back to the community will be our hallmark. Also, it’s time the SP2 Concert (Friday Night) is known as THE concert of the summer in Downtown St. Petersburg.”

Other officer changes include Nathan Bruemmer (ALSO Youth – Sarasota) who became the Vice President; Stanley Solomons retained his position as Treasurer; and Richard Brandt (Franklin Templeton) became the Secretary.
