One Chapter Closes as President Steps Down: Changes for TIGLFF

PRESS RELEASE FROM the Tampa Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival:

For two years, the Tampa Bay International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival’s Board of Directors and Executive Director Scott Skyberg have nurtured and strengthened the annual Film Festival (TIGLFF), now in its 29th year, as well as new programs honoring the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and allies’ community throughout Tampa Bay.

With appreciation for Scott’s hard work, we are pleased to support Scott’s decision to focus on his growing accounting service, Skyberg Consulting Group. Thank you, Scott, for your two years of passionate advocacy for the Greater Tampa Bay LGBTQ+ film going audience!

Statement from John Vandermolen, President, TIGLFF Board of Directors:

“I would like to personally thank Scott for stepping in as our Interim Executive Director for 2015 and taking on the role more permanently after that year. He quickly took on tasks that may have been less familiar to him, such as grant writing, which allowed this organization to grow in those areas, so we can continue to offer great programs and entertainment to our community. I know Scott’s goal is to ensure that the next Executive Director can have a seamless entry into the organization. I also know Scott has a great love of the festival and look forward to him still working with us in the future assisting us on committees or as a volunteer.

Scott was also a great proponent of live entertainment and we have a couple of great opportunities coming up in April for our community’s entertainment. We will have Suzanne Westenhoefer at the Palladium in St Pete on April 13th. Suzanne was here a couple of years ago and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her back.

We are also in negotiations to bring Miss Richfield back to the Tampa Bay area. Our program with Miss Richfield sold out quickly last year so we wanted to give everyone one more chance to come out and see her again!

Thanks again to Scott and we wish you all the best going forward”

Statement from Scott Skyberg:

“It has been an honor to be a part of this wonderful community organization.  TIGLFF is such an asset to this community and critical in continuing the progress of both human rights and equality.  I would like to thank the entire TIGLFF Family; John Vandermolen, Thomas Isbon, TIGLFF Board and Staff, Sponsors, Community Partners, Volunteers, and all our loyal supporters for three years of driving forward our mission.  I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming films and events in TIGLFF’s 29th year.”

Celebrating 29 years is a great achievement for any nonprofit organization. With the TIGLFF 30th anniversary year fast approaching, of course we will begin a search for a new Executive Director immediately. As we prepare an updated position posting, we encourage those interested to send advance inquiries and their CV to our Board President, John Vandermolen at john@tiglff.com.

TIGLFF’s mission is to showcase compelling film and video that entertains, empowers, and enlightens by, for or about the LGBTQ+ community. Since 1989, TIGLFF has showcased thousands of films for the LGBTQ+ community of Tampa Bay. With Film Festival as well as other films & performances scheduled at the historic Tampa Theatre and locations in Saint Petersburg, the festival makes its programming easily accessible to all communities that make up the entire Tampa Bay area.
