St. Petersburg, FL, March 31, 2019 – Each year on March 31st Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) is celebrated around the world to honor the courage and accomplishments of the diverse transgender and gender-expansive community.
St Pete Pride began an annual tradition in 2017 by launching the historic TransPride March to lead off the parade to celebrate and make visible our transgender siblings and their loved ones. Last year’s participants exceeded 750 marchers.
We march to honor how far we’ve come and how much further we need to go. The transgender community and the people who love us know our fight for acceptance and equality is far from over. We are reminded every day that living out loud as a trans, enby, or non-binary human can put our well-being at risk. This is why we must celebrate the resilience of our transgender community. We will not be erased,” says Nathan Bruemmer, TransPride March founder and St Pete Pride Vice President.
The TransPride March registration is open to all and is free to participants. Registration this year includes a free commemorative t-shirt to the first 1,000 registrants. T-shirts will be provided at registration the day of the event.
