The International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA) will host its 34th Annual Global Convention at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club in St. Petersburg from May 4 to 6, reports the IGLTA Convention website. The convention will provide networking and workshop opportunities for LGBT and LGBT-friendly tourism professionals.
The Opening Reception takes place at the Dali Museum and Mahaffey Theater. Other events include a Buyer/Supplier Marketplace, a night out in St. Petersburg, and a number of workshops on LGBT marketing, networking, and new media.
The convention will feature keynote speakers such as George A. Kalogridis, president of the Walt Disney World Resort, and St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman. Bloggers, journalists, and prominent figures in tourism companies will also speak.
This year’s IGLTA Foundation Fundraiser and Networking Event will be held in the Chiluly Collection at the Morean Arts Center, with an event fee of $100, deductible as a charitable donation.
Registration is $495 for companies with 10 or fewer employees, and $1,200 for those with more than 10. Day passes can be bought for $295. There are additional fees for the Buyer/Supplier Marketplace and hotel accommodations.
The event’s presenting sponsors are Embratur (the Brazilian Tourism Board), Visit St. Pete/Clearwater, and Tourism Toronto. Other sponsors include Visit Britain, Go Israel, and Visit Philadelphia.
